Join HFI, NCD Alliance, Sanofi, and exciting speakers for an upcoming virtual event

Join HFI, NCD Alliance, and Sanofi on Wednesday, November 3 from 9:30 AM to 11 AM ET for a rich discussion on catalyzing investments for NCDs during the COVID-19 pandemic. Our expert panelists include Dr. Bente Mikkelsen, Director of NCD Department (WHO); Dr. Andreas Seiter, Lead of Private Sector (World Bank); Prof. Thomas J. Bollyky, Director of the Global Health Program (CFR); and more! This virtual event will:

  • Share lessons of the challenges and opportunities brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic on global, regional, and national finances and NCD responses.

  • Discuss current and upcoming health financing mechanisms to address the gaps in NCDs, support the strengthening of health systems and increase preparedness for future epidemics in a challenging economic context.

  • Explore pertinent strategies for linking NCDs with other critical health and development agendas and fostering strong collaboration between all the relevant stakeholders including donors, multilaterals, and civil society organizations.

HFI’s inaugural DC event with NCD Alliance: “Integrating NCDs in
COVID-19 recovery agendas”

On the sidelines of the World Bank Group / International Monetary Fund 2021 Annual Meetings, HFI and NCD Alliance hosted a roundtable discussion on prioritizing NCDs in the recovery agenda. Attendees included representatives from UNDP, Uruguay, UNICEF, Medtronic, and more. One of the key takeaways from this dynamic discussion was the importance of engaging the private sector and civil society in financing for NCDs. HFI looks forward to working with partners to make this a reality.

NFT donation to support diabetes work in Mexico and social impact bond in Armenia with Danish Red Cross

HFI recently received a generous NFT (non-fungible token) donation from Sandclock in the form of digital art. This piece of artwork, known as the “Water God,” will be auctioned from October 30 to November 1. Funding generated from this auction will support our diabetes programs in Mexico, where we are working closely with local partners, and Armenia, where we are partnering with the Danish Red Cross. Introducing our new Senior Advisor of Partnerships

Welcome, Vanessa Candeias, our new Senior Advisor of Partnerships! Vanessa has worked extensively in global health to explore what system changes are needed to enable healthier populations. As the Senior Director at the Hepatitis Fund, she focused on increasing investments and financing for eliminating viral hepatitis as a global health threat. As the Head of Global Health and Healthcare and a Member of the Executive Committee at the World Economic Forum, she brought together businesses, governments, and civil society organizations to co-design and accelerate the implementation of partnerships to transform healthcare systems. Additionally, at the World Health Organization, she developed global guidelines, provided technical assistance to countries, and led policy development for prevention of NCDs. With a myriad of experiences, Vanessa is excited to contribute to HFI's work through the lens of partnerships.
